Patrick Swayze

Patrick Swayze was born August 8, 1952 in Houston, Texas.  His mother, Patsy Swayze, owns a dance studio in Houston.  His father, Jesse Wayne Swayze, passed away in 1982.  He graduated from Waltrip High School in Houston, and continued onto San Jacinto College.  He married Lisa Niemi, who was an actress and dancer, who he had known from when she was fifteen and attended his mother’s dance class in Houston.  Patrick attended Harkness, and Jofrey Ballet School.  He made it to Broadway when he played Danny Zuko in Grease. He started dancing professionally when he danced “Prince Ace” in Skatetown U.S.A.   He made it to television when he appeared in M.A.S.H. as a soldier with leukemia.  After eight years, a considerable amount of television and movie work, he appeared in Grandview U.S.A.  In 1984.  In 1987 he receives a golden globe nomination for his role in Dirty Dancing. 

   He received another nomination for playing the role of “Sam Wheat” in the movie Ghost. In 1990.  He was extremely noticed for all of his acting in the 90’s.  In December 2003, his productions went everywhere in the U.S.  In January 2008, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  He fought it as much as he could for well over a year, but tragically died on September 14, 2009 a tragic death.
